Hurricane Gustav Seriously Threatens New Orleans

Hurricane Gustav is reported to have a likely chance of strengthening over the Gulf of Mexico in the next week and has a possibility of directly hitting the nearly recovered Gulf Coast once again, and possibly with more strength.

The storm is currently crossing over Haiti and is classified at the moment as a tropical storm.

Even more unnerving is the timing of the storm. Many people in New Orleans have been planning commemorations for Hurrican Katrina which hit the Gulf Coast as a category 3 three years ago this Friday.

Some video on the Candidates and their thoughts on Katrina:
First the incompetence of the Republican Candidate John McCain, if someone can find a more positive account of McCains work on this issue please let me know.

Democratic Candidate Barack Obama on the other hand has shown a very thoughtful reaction to the disaster and its impact on the broader United States. Seen here in a video in New Orleans Barack Obama toured the land with a Non-Profit, All Congregations Together, that I have worked with in the last 3 years and seen do amazing community organizing work. Here is the video:
